NATIONAL WETLAND INVENTORY AND ASSESSMENT (NWIA) - PHASE

National Wetland Inventory and Assessment (NWIA) project under the Satellite based River basin hydrological Technique and Applications (SARITA) programme is taken up in collaboration with the Space Application Centre, ISRO, DoS, GoI under the aegis of Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change, GoI.

Under the project various wetland classes such as Lakes/Ponds, Ox-bow lakes, Glacial Lakes (Pro/Supra-glacial), High altitude lakes, Fish ponds (Aquaculture), Reservoirs, Tank/ponds, Waterlogged areas are mapped using IRS LISS-IV data on 1:25K scale.
